EBARA CORPORATION
EBARA CORPORATION (hereinafter “EBARA”) held seminars on pump technology on June 9 and 10, 2016 at Myanmar Engineering Society (MES) in Yangon, Myanmar. Approximately 54 participants attended from government agencies, local governments, and private-sector companies.
Myanmar has been experiencing phenomenal economic growth, with large-scale industrial and commercial developments springing up in the capital Naypyidaw and the second largest city Mandalay, resulting in heightened demand for water infrastructure. In response to this demand, the EBARA Group established a branch in Yangon in November 2015. The unstable power situation in Myanmar sparked strong interest from seminar participants in issues such as making pump operation more energy efficient and the water hammer phenomenon ※ that occurs at times of power failure.
EBARA has continued to deepen its relationships around the world through the provision of technical guidance and other forms of international cooperation. Since the launch of the EBARA Hatakeyama Memorial Fund in 1989, it has organized more than 250 seminars at different locations around the world, welcoming upwards of 12,000 participants. This year, EBARA is set to give eight seminars in locations such as Vietnam and Thailand.
EBARA will continue to contribute to the development of Southeast Asian countries not only by offering pumps and other products and services, but through technical seminars and other international cooperation activities.
※
Water hammer phenomenon:
At the start/stop of pump operation (in particular when the pump stops suddenly as a result of a power failure, for example), and when valves open and close, the velocity of the water filled in the pipeline changes suddenly causing an abrupt change in water pressure. This phenomenon is called “water hammer.” The water hammer phenomenon results in damage to pipework and valves.
