”New Easy-maintenance/inspection Pump (Vertical Shaft Type Mixed Flow Pump)” Model 1650VZGT※1
EBARA CORPORATION (EBARA) has delivered a “New Easy-maintenance/inspection Pump” to Hakozaki Pump Station, Fukuoka. It was the first pump of its kind adopted by the City of Fukuoka.
1.Background
After the major flood damage Fukuoka City suffered in 1999, the city has formulated the “Rain Water Control ‘Do’ Plan” and has been powering up drainage facilities at District 59 which is the focal point. Hakozaki Pump Station, to which EBARA delivered the pumps this time, was built in April 2020 with objectives to mitigate flood damage in the Hakozaki district.
2.Overview
At pump stations that play major roles as infrastructure facilities, sure startups and steady operations are required; thus long-term proper maintenance is essential. The pumps delivered this time have new configurations with the submerged bearings, important components, positioned on the lower part of the impeller. This eliminates works to pull up the pump to the ground each time for inspection and disassemble the pump for replacing bearings. Hence heavy equipment such as a crane is no longer required, shortening maintenance work hours, which leads to a substantial reduction of maintenance costs.
Also, there were up to six contractors in construction progress during the pump installation work. Our efficient site management and construction quality were highly appraised by the customer and we received an award as a construction performance excellent contractor from the city.
