At the Award ceremony
EBARA CORPORATION (EBARA) is pleased to announce we received the Special Award of the 5th Japan SDGs Award organized by Japanese Government.
On December 24th, the 5th Japan SDGs Award ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s office. EBARA was awarded for “the creation of a business model to purify and supply water in developing countries in order to realize one of our missions that we aim to deliver water to 600 million people on the globe.” At the ceremony, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi attended.
The Japan SDGs Award was established to promote a wide range of actions for sustainable development to accomplish the SDGs. The organizations eligible for the awards are selected from companies, local governments, and NGOs/NPOs that are making outstanding efforts on sustainable development. The SDGs Promotion Headquarters determines award winners based on the opinions of a wide-range of stakeholders who have expertise in the SDGs.
In our material issues to realize our mission as the EBARA Group in 2030, we aim to contribute to sustainable society. We will support the creation of a sustainable, environmentally-friendly world with ample food and water, as well as safe and reliable social infrastructure. The achievement goal will be to deliver water to 600 million people on the globe.
To address issues, one of specific actions we are making is that Ebara Pumps Europe S.p.A, EBARA’s group company headquartered in Italy, teamed up with Boreal Light GmbH, a start-up based in Germany, and started a project to provide safe and clean water to school children and the local community in Machakos, Kenya starting in July, 2021. The project was evaluated that they built a business model for a sustainable water supply system that improves health of people in local community.
While we promote the water supply system, we will establish a system to deliver water in regions, where people do not have basic water access, in order to make a contribution for the development of its economy, society, culture, and environment as well as growth of industries including agriculture. Without leaving no one behind, the EBARA Group will create a system to supply water that is essential for people to live.
The EBARA Group aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing material issues identified in its long-term vision and executing the medium-term management plan to increase corporate value.
