The work I am in charge of

I am in charge of machining and automation for components of dry vacuum pumps called rotors. An automated dry vacuum pump plant requires extensive knowledge of electricity and controls, because not only the machining of rotors, but also the feeding and discharge of rotors into and out of the machine are automated by robots and other means. It’s my motivation that I can achieve our goals and share the pleasure with my colleagues in the process.

Changes and evolutions from the past in the monozukuri (manufacturing) field

High-mix low-volume production has been increasing. As a result, frequent changes in setup occur, so we have come up with flexible production methods to perform those tasks quickly. We have also changed the way tocreate things like machining and measurement programs. Instead of one connected program, we divide a program into separate programs by pattern and then combine into the one we need.

What I want to do in future, and my message to young people

Our dry vacuum pump automated plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. By producing good products at low cost through automation and high-precision machining, I want to show the world that Japan is a country of monozukuri. On the other hand, even as we move forward with automation, I want the younger generation to experience processing firsthand. I want them to become "digital craftsmen" integrating digital and analog. I want to be such a person myself, too.
